M named my shoes today – 1, 2 buckle my shoe! I love it. I also love that this blog is inspiring me to try new things. I would have never worn the plaid shirt with the striped sweater before and I love how it turned out. I love how it has been giving me fresh eyes to the pieces in my closet that I already have. So THANK YOU to all my stylish readers and bloggers that inspire me. This is a perfect rainy day work outfit. I hate that we had to work half a day today and am excited to get on the road tomorrow morning. I am not sure if there will be an outfit post or not. We will see. I do hope that everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving!

Today was a very busy day for me at work. I went on a field trip. This actually proved to be trickier when I was getting dressed than I thought that it would be. First, we went to see a play. So I felt like I had to dress professionally. Second, it was raining. I then knew that I should wear boots and a skirt or dress instead of pants. I hate when my pants get wet from the rain. Third, I don’t have any light colored tights. I pulled out my black boots and gray tights and tried to think of what to wear that wouldn’t be a repeat, especially since I just wore my black boots on Friday and a different pair of gray tights this weekend. I then pulled out this skirt. I love the pattern in this skirt and am not sold on the fit of it for me. It worked, but I felt like it was big in the hips and shifted a lot.
Sorry for the late post, I am getting ready for our trip to Ohio for Thanksgiving!

Today was a pretty boring and basic outfit, so I spruced it up with my leopard shoes. I love how leopard and red accent each other so well. I had a very busy day with lots of meetings and wanted to be comfortable. I also needed good stable shoes because yesterday I ran for 3 miles. This was my longest run since my knee injury. I just haven’t been able to shake the pain and was excited about the extra distance. My knee was sore this morning. I do love these shoes though. I should wear them more often. They were the first pair of heels that I bought after having foot surgery in February of 2007. I was so afraid that I wouldn’t be able to wear heels again. Luckily I recovered well. I also searched long and hard for a pair of leopard shoes that seemed to be a great fit for me.
I am excited that this is a short work week and have a lot to do to prepare for Thanksgiving. Welcome Holidays!!!

So this afternoon Josh and I went on a date. We went into DC and walked and shopped around U Street. We then went to Ben’s Chili Bowl for dinner. Yummy stuff!!! It was a nice chilly fall day out and that is why I wore so many layers when getting dressed. When Josh saw my outfit, he said… that sure is a lot of colors. My response was … yes it is a lot, but most of them are neutral so it works. He then said… brown, gray, black, yellow, blue – those are all not neutral. I assured him that it was ok. I think that all of the colors of my outfit were neutral except the yellow. What do you think?
When we were shopping though, I found this great vintage hat! It is mohair and made in Scotland. I love it! I decided that it would go great with what I was already wearing and Josh said hey, all your colors are already in it too. I then got him to take a picture of me with the hat on! It was a great day!

Today was not a casual Friday at work. We had parents coming for conferences and so I decided to go ahead and wear a dress. One of my coworkers told me that I looked very Mod. I liked that description very much. I felt Mod in a good way. Today’s real inspiration came from two sources. First the ladies over at the B/C Changeover are doing a no fear challenge and are wearing those things in the closet that don’t get a lot of use. It inspired me to not just look through my closet, but to clean out my closet last night. As I was cleaning out my closet, I came across the patterned blouse that I love but rarely wear because it is very unstructured and the bow doesn’t always work. The other part of this outfit was inspired by Danielle at Fell 4 Fashion. She has this little black dress that is similar to my dress in the pleating and the belting. She often wears different shirts under it and it looks amazing! I decided to try it because of this look. I added the belt for some extra structure. I loved how this look came out.
Extra bonus – when cleaning out my closet – I found my glasses!! Yay for wearing scratch free glasses to see!

First… I really don’t know why I keep making weird faces in the photos. I also am having a very bad hair day. I do love this outfit though. It has my favorite fall color combinations in the vest and I was able to pair different shades of brown together. These are a pair of my new shoes and they were just what I thought that they would be. They remind me of my first pair of teacher shoes. Only these have more spunk with the metallic accents. I got a lot of compliments on my outfit today as well. Which always makes my day better.
I love the ruffles in this shirt and wanted to tell you about my secret of wearing a vest over it. You will notice that the ruffles go all the way down. When I first bought this shirt and vest combo, I wanted to wear them together but had the bulk of the ruffles. Today I realized that if I took one of my tanks and put it on between the shirt and the vest it would cut down on the bulk… it worked!
M named my shoes the 14 ks. She liked the gold accents as well.

Today was much more fall like outside. I love fall and I love gray and brown together. This has to be one of my new favorite color combinations. I also love that I am able to remix my skirt so often. I know it may seem like this jean skirt gets a lot of use and it does, but it is such a neutral – I just can’t help it.
I also was able to do a little pattern mixing today. The biggest mix was the different designed stripes in my sweater and the stripes of the tank. I like how they echo each other, but don’t really match. Then subtly my bracelet has a lot of pattern and texture that mixes with the other pattern. I also really love the gray tights with the brown boots.
I look pretty tired in my pictures this morning, that is because I got up a little earlier to take Josh to the Metro so that he could fly out to Florida this morning. No worries though, he will be back sometime tomorrow.
Today I am thankful for time alone. Although I don’t always want to be alone, some time is nice. I am excited to have some of that time tonight. No one to worry about but myself.
