Cuddled Up

Details:
Cowl Neck Sweater – French Connection via Marshalls
Gray and Black Pashmina – Chinatown NYC
Darker Gray Turtleneck – KMart
Jeans – Banana Republic
Socks – New York and Company
Earrings – Target
Shoes – Mudd via Famous Footwear

So today I wrapped my pashmina around my cowl neck sweater. All of the wonderful scarf looks at academichic were making me crave a nice pashmina today. I like how it added to my warmth and I felt very cozy. Since I wasn’t working again today and I felt very cold, I double layered but kept with a very basic gray color palette. I have only worn a scarf like this one other time and I like how this looks looser in today’s outfit. I didn’t realize that I have worn these two pieces together because I feel like the looks are so different, until I was going back through, looking for another picture of this sweater to show off the neck without the scarf. This sweater is so warm and cozy and with the scarf… this became the perfect winter storm outfit. Josh and I went to REI and Target this morning. I got some great new running gear. I am very excited about wearing it and running outside in a prepared manner. We are expecting between 8 and 14 more inches of snow over the next 24 hours. I don’t think that I will have work the rest of the week. We shall see though.

Winterizing!!

Details:
Green Cardigan – New York and Company
Mustard Tank – New York and Company
Flowered Tank – New York and Company
Necklace – Made By Me
Jeans – Lucky Brand
Shoes aka White Casual Shoes – Mudd via Famous Footwear

Since we are knee deep in snow and because I didn’t work today and won’t have to work through Wednesday, I am planning on trying to winterize some summer favorites. I am not doing much outside of the house these days. I did make it to the gym today. I will post updates on my running page. (Also a great picture of Josh in his winter running gear). I love how the green goes with the flowers but that it does not match. When I have worn this before, I have paired it with a yellow sweater I like this combination so much more. What do you all think? This is also only the second time, I have worn a cardigan with a shirt with a belt already attached to it. I think that I like this much better.

These jeans are pretty old. I am not sure that I like them that much anymore, but they are super comfortable for hanging around the house. I will post earlier tomorrow. :)

Oh and to leave you with a great picture of the snow again…we are now expecting 10 to 20 more inches starting tomorrow noon… I don’t know where we are going to put all this snow!

Jeans – Banana Republic
Socks – from INOVA hospital when I had surgery (they have tread on both sides and are super warm)

We are in the midst of another HUGE snow storm. Very untypical of the greater DC area. It started yesterday and I did not really get dressed. I still wasn’t feeling well in the morning and then we ended up going over to hang out at my friends house (we have 4 wheel drive). I wore a gray and red sweater to support the Go Red For Women day. This outfit is not really special, but I am also not really planning on leaving the house. I did take the dog out, but had to bundle up to do so. It has been a lazy few days for me. Please excuse the fact that I am not wearing makeup either. These are not the best pictures of me… but I haven’t posted in a while. :)

Check out our street.

An Unexpected Day Off

Details:
Plaid Shirt – Converse One Star via Target
Gray Wrap Sweater – Target
Green Tank – New York and Company
Khaki Skirt – Target
Brown Tights – Simply Vera via Kohls
Boots aka Yippee Ki Yay- Steve Madden via Rack Room Shoes

Today was a snow day, so I didn’t have to go to work. The snow melted pretty quickly though and I was able to go to the gym early today. I then came home and decided that I should probably be a real person and change out of my sweaty gym clothes, take a shower, and get dressed. I wanted something casual and warm. I have been envying the way others have styled their khaki skirts recently – so I went for it today. This is basically a mix of these outfits that I have done in the past, but hey it is a snow day. :)

Also – don’t forget tomorrow at 11:59 pm is the last time that you can enter my giveaway!

One Shirt, Seven Days (Day 4 for me)

Details:
Blue Striped Shirt – New York and Company
Gray Blazer – New York and Company
Necklace – gifted from MIL
Navy Pencil Skirt – New York and Company
Ring – ShopKim won from What Would a Nerd Wear
Gold Belt – New York and Company
Orange Tights – Simply Vera via Kohls
Orange Shoes – Payless (from at least 10 years ago)

Today is day four of the 1 Shirt, 7 Days challenge for me. I had to be more creative with this outfit because as I stated before, I am only using pieces in my closet that I already have. I only have one bright colored plain skirt and it is a teal color. It was too close to matching my shirt and not far away from it for it to look good. It was just odd. I also loved the orange color in the skirt from the inspiration picture (see below), but didn’t have a skirt even close to that color. I decided that wearing a very basic pencil skirt would work and I could wear tights that gave me that pop of color. I then struggled with which pair of shoes to wear with this and ended up choosing these really old shoes that I love but rarely wear. They blend very nicely with my tights and I feel like they give me more length to my legs. I also knew that I did not have a boyfriend blazer. I was originally going to go for my plain black blazer and saw this in the closet this morning. I thought that it would work well because I love gray with just about any other color combination. Since the inspiration picture also had gold jewelry on, I went for it and added one more piece of interest with the gold skinny belt. I think that it helped pull it together for me. Since I don’t wear bracelets to work much (they get in the way when typing and teaching), I opted for a very pretty statement ring.

What do you think? Did I translate the same feel of this outfit?
Check out the other days below.

Day 3

What has been your favorite look from this challenge so far?

I am off to the gym right now. I am starting a new training program. I am also looking into making some changes on my running page. I am not sure what that will look like yet, but I want to share more and I don’t love the format that it is in right now and I think that is why I am not sharing a lot. I might end up making a different blog that links to this with the running stuff on it. I just feel like I want to do more with that aspect of my blog and life. I am also really hoping to be able to show some real improvement in my running in the next couple of months.

And another shameless plug for my giveaway! Don’t forget to enter. :)

2 Days in a Row

Details:
Black Flower Cardi – New York and Company
Green Tank – New York and Company
Necklace, Earrings, Ring – New York and Company
Gray Tank – Target
Black Skirt – New York and Company
Black Lace Tights – New York and Company
Black Boots – Chinese Laundry via DSW

Today was kind of a big day for me. I was presenting to a bunch of teachers in my district. I usually dress up more on days like these. After yesterday’s use of the longer tank with the cardigan button-up all the way, I couldn’t get it out of my head. So I went for it today. I also decided to use the green tank again even though I have a lot of colors of this tank. I really really love this color combination of black, gray, and bright green. This skirt is so comfortable too, I might go back and pick up a few more in different colors. What do you all think? Is it flattering enough to have multiples in different colors? I also loved how the details made this outfit special. The flower on the cardigan, the lace of the tights, the sparkles in the buttons, and all of the necklaces. What do you all think? I also like the shape of this outfit and how my waist was still defined without a belt because of the longer tanks.

I am so excited to be giving away those earrings. Please don’t forget to enter! You have until Feb 4th at 11:59 pm.

Danielle as Inspiration

Details:
Green Tank – New York and Company
Green Belt – Target
Green Necklace – Made by Me!!
Black and White Sweater – Kohls
Blazer – New York and Company
Glasses – Calvin Klein
Jeans – New York and Company
Boots – so old – I don’t remember

Today’s outfit inspiration came from Danielle at Fell 4 Fashion. Danielle has worn a thin cardigan sweater under a blazer twice recently and I have loved it both times on her. When planning my outfit this morning I decided to go for it. I knew that I wanted to add a pop of green with the belt. I originally had a white t-shirt under my cardigan, but it didn’t look quite right, so I added the green tank instead. I then grabbed this necklace that I made myself to add one more small pop of green to my outfit. The blazer added a great layer of warmth and I really liked how warm I was and how easy it was to layer the blazer over the cardigan. I also liked the pinstripes with the really bold black and white printed cardigan. I have rarely worn my cardigans button all of the way up and have never done it on this site even though I wear cardigans quite often. I liked that look and will be experimenting later with this week with this look. This outfit was very inspirational – thanks Danielle!!!

PS – don’t forget about the giveaway!!

White Out

Details:
Green Tank – Target
Green Sweater – New York and Company
Gray Skinny Cords – New York and Company
Scarf – Kohls
Boots – Steve Madden via Rack Room Shoes

Today it has been snowing all day. Josh and I went into the city to go to the art museum and I was able to take a great picture of the snowy Capitol Building.

I wore this outfit in order to stay really warm since we were walking quite a bit to get the metro and then some around the city! The stripes for today came from my scarf and kind of from the stripes of the cords. I also tried a new way of wearing this scarf. I double knotted it. What do you all think? Now we are off to go bowling with our upstairs neighbors. :) Stay warm and don’t forget to enter my giveaway!
